Smile. It Could Change a life

I remember the day in my life that everything changed - or I guess - clicked for me. I was a sophomore at community college. I felt very disconnected from the kind of life all my friends were living at colleges far away. Stuck in the comparison loop we can all get in, I felt I was the only person that had no idea what I was doing. I did not feel good enough. It was a gloomy winter day in Michigan, I was listening to Sam Smith Nirvana on repeat (probably was not helping my mood) on a walk in between classes that I am so happy I decided to go on. And I remember this woman that walked by and simply smiled at me and it was as if everything else faded away. Her energy was so pure and in that moment, when I really needed it, I felt like I was seen. The simple act of a smile. It can turn a strangers whole day-- even life-- around without you even knowing it -- just like it did mine. I think it can be very easy to get caught up in how our life looks, how we look, what we are accomplishing, that we forget about the importance of seeing one another and recognizing the incredible opportunity it is to be with one another, even if it is just for that split second smile as you cross p
